A: My daughter is starting to ask some difficult questions.

B: About what?

A: You know, the facts of life. I’m not sure what to tell her.

B: You can always use the `birds and the bees’ analogy.

A: 내 딸이 어려운 질문들을 하기 시작했어.

B: 어떤 것에 대해서?

A: 거 왜 있잖아, 인생의 사실들. 난 걔한테 뭘 말해야 할지 모르겠어.

B: 넌 항상 ‘새들과 벌들(미국에서 성교육을 말할 때 쓰는 표현)’ 비유를 사용할 수 있어.

analogy의 사전적 의미는 ‘비유’, ‘유사점’, ‘유추’이다. 어원적으로 살펴보면 ‘말(言)’, ‘이성’을 뜻하는 라틴어 logos에서 유래했다.
